On Christmas Eve, after 15 years as street level booksellers in Melbourne's west, Curiosity Bookshop closed it's doors. Rising rents, economic circumstances, & changing patterns of custom have conspired to make this type of bookselling unviable, so we go off to join those other great generalist bookshops in that elephant's graveyard of bookstores - the internet.
However, it's not all doom & gloom. On the positive side we have thousands of rare, unusual, interesting, & otherwise collectable books that we might finally get around to listing, [&] for our record customers, the rare vynil site is due for launch in February. For those who need a browsing bookstore, the nearest to Spotswood would be... http://www.westsidestories.com.au/ -Westona: second hand books
http://www.willysbazaar.com.au/index.asp
- Williamstown: books, records, CDs, & collectables
http://www.essendoncdlpbook.com.au/ - Essendon: for books, records & CDs
We would like to extend our thanks to all our customers and the local community for their support over the years, first at Newport, and for the last six years, here in Spotswood.
It's been fun! Dan

We have listed back issues of The Bulletin magazine, Australia's longest running magazine publication. The Bulletin was launched in 1880 and ceased publication in January 2008.
The Bulletin magazine has proven to be influential to Australian history and culture, making our offering of The Bulletin back-issues of possible interest to collectors of iconnic Australian magazines in the current affairs genre. Our entire collection of The Bulletin has been listed in it's own category where numerous issues of the weekly publication from 1986 to 2005 can be ordered from our Curiosity Bookshop website. |
