by Turgeon, Carolyn
{mosgoogle} by Turgeon, Carolyn Tessa is a little girl, literally. She is tiny with starfish hands. She is so small the town children call her ?freak?. All her life she has felt unwanted, until Mary came. Mary is the town librarian. Her hair is black like the night, she smells of cinnamon and when she is around time stops. Rumors say that she was a famous circus star; others call her a harlot and a gypsy. The oddest thing of all about her is that she loves Tessa. As the years progress, Mary teaches Tessa everything she knows. She even teaches Tessa about her old life in the circus. But one day Mary is gone and suddenly Tessa is alone again with only Mary?s secrets to keep her company. - reviewed by Courtney, Independence Regional, PLCMC
