Fair Condition. First Edition 1960. Illustrated by Ralph Thompson.

The month was May, and Happy the Hare decided it was very pleasant to eat Farmer Foster's fresh green wheat, and to play in the fields, without a care in teh world... Until one day the farmer brought his gun, and Trouncer the dog gave chase. After that Happy found himself in mortal danger from man, beast, and nearly everything - or so it seemed. A lot of natural history can be gleaned from this story of Happy the Hare.
