Since the beginning of time stories were written and told.

Stories and happenings were first written on walls as hieroglyphics and on cement tablets. Most early stories were non-fiction and told the story of what life was like way back when. As time developed so did reading and stories. Books were written for more pleasurable entertainment. Hans Christian Anderson wrote the some of the most famous Children's, books. He wrote hundreds of fairy tales and stories including, The Emperor's New Suite, The Ugly Duckling, The Princess and the Pea and The Red Shoes. There were many other famous children's books such as Cinderella, Goldie Locks and The Three Little Bears, and The Little Mermaid. These books were all were written to entertain the young at heart. These were also call fiction books because they told fantasy stories. From the early day of school I remember reading a bout Dick and Jane. This was a chapter book written strictly to develop a child reading habits and vocabulary. Non fiction books tell us a true story, while biographies tells about a specific person's life. An Autobiography is a story written by people about themselves like Helen Keller, The Story of My Life. Then there are the classics such as Julius Caesar, Huckleberry Fin, Moby Dick, and Tom Sawyer. Legions, such as The Legend of Sleepy Hallow by Washington Irving bought us a little mystery. Fables were written with a moral to every story. Remember the story of The Hare and the Tortoise? The hare thought it could beat the tortoise easily in a race so it slacked off and the tortoise won the race. And the great tall tales, such as The Story of Paul Bunyan bought us great entertainment. Informational books come in all different types. You have dictionaries, encyclopedia A-Z, atlas, almanacs, newspapers, magazines and a variety of other resources. Books now come on cassettes, tapes, CDs, and online and as movies. It is easy to see there are books for all occasions, seasons and for many reason. Books come in all shapes and sizes, but one important purpose should be to lean and enjoy! If you are a big fan of reading and enjoying good stories visit www.bestsellerreports.com.
