Local and independent authors are inspiring people and they should be promoted at every opportunity. I met Conny Fechner at the Bunyip Festival in March. The Bunyip festival was put on by the local primary school in Drysdale on the Bellarine Peninsular in Victoria. Among the various stalls, Conny Fechner and her husband were selling a delicious variety of home made fudge as well as Conny’s children’s books. Connie lives in Geelong, Victoria and her series has become popular within its limited circulation. Conny Fechner’s “Inspector Allbones” series of children’s books are also illustrated by Conny in a fun cartoon style that complements the story. In this series, Inspector Goodbody takes a potion and suddenly finds that his body is no longer visible, all that can be seen is his bones. He changes his name to Allbones and gets on with the job of being a detective in his hilarious new look.
