"A unusual piece of writing - a sort of prose song, a sort of lament which gives a strong, almost hallucinatory sense of the Aussie woman caught in each period of our history - linking our pasts, the patterns of our pasts with our present - really fascinating, thought provoking..." Kathy Kozlowski, Melbourne Bookseller
Jenna Carole has been a writer for much of her life; journals since the age of twelve, letters, stories for children, poetry, songs, short stories, plays. Theatre work has also occupied a large part of her life as a performer, singer, writer, director and designer. The other stream of her professional life has been working alongside people labelled 'disabled'. A strenuously creative life culminating in the building of a stone house where she now lives, writes and sculpts clay.
Her explorative work in theatre and with teh lives of people shattered in some way by their collisions with adversity, has greatly influenced her into her own journey into self-knowledge and a growing realisation that knowledge - real knowledge - the 'knowing', the the 'kenning' - comes with a price. This journey moves in and out of the shadows, of the past and of the present and acknowledges that it takes a strong soul to change prescribed directions, inherited values, the sins of the past.
