 Title

 Women of Namibia

The Changing Role of Namibian Women from Precolonial Times to the Present

 Author

Ndeutala Selma Hishongwa

 Publisher

 Stockholm: BY & BYGD, 1983

 Description

Paperback, 103pp incl. Preface, Glossary, & bibliography; spine is slightly sun-faded & there is one light scuff mark to the front cover [see scan], o/wise fine.

Women of Namibia is written by Ndeutala Selma  Hishongwa. She was born in Okalili in northern Namibia. Due to the repressive situation she left the country in 1974 to join other freedom fighters of SWAPO.
Women of Namibia analyses the situation of women in the Namibian family during centuries with stress on modern time. Ndeutala has combined her experience from her native village, her involvement in the liberation struggle led by SWAPO for a free & independent Namibia  and her stay in a western country with an influence of the discussion of the role between men & women.
Women of Namibia is an important document which exposes the situation of women in South Africa written by a woman who was born & grew up in the region.
This is an important & exceedingly scarce title -signed & dated on the title page. Very Good.
