SURVIVAL NOW should be of interest to people right across the social and political spectrum. It offers a radical interpretation of the dominant planetary culture and draws upon anthropology, history and psychology. It possesses a distinct claim to originality. But it is merely putting together what many others have done over a very long time.
It is a new interpretation of history and of the planetary culture. Most people will be surprised by it and many will strongly disagree. But no-one will be quite the same afterwards.
Dr Cairns believes that within 20 years world history will be seen in this way. It will provide the evolutionary plan for survival as it emerges from human experience.
The need for survival emits certain sounds and that can be heard especially in the needs of the child. Living species have always been able to hear them. Can we?
Our social and evolutionary problem lies in the fact that the human capacity to hear and grow has become appallingly repressed by social forces. The problem cannot be solved within the process of repression itself — which is also the process of history. To solve the problem of survival a basically radical re-assessment of all human patterns of thought is essential.
But a qualitatively different choice is emerging-rapidly. It is a new world view ... a new consciousness. It is the third consciousness.
The first consciousness, a female centred one, brought the first humanising forces in the evolution of the species. The second consciousness that of patriarchy, transformed it and gave men fantastic power to build and destroy but finally to destroy himself. The third consciousness will be whole — the child, the woman, the man, the earth and the cosmos. The signs of it can be seen everywhere. Aquarius is rising.
